Overview of the work:
Swift: Suzuki has firmly established itself as a top three vehicle brand. Swift and Baleno are hugely popular. Suzuki’s dealer network is the second best-performing of any brand’s network. The auto industry grew by 2.6% in January, according to NAAMSA, the automotive business council, with total sales of 45 352 units. 29 976 of these were passenger vehicles.
Perhaps more intriguing is the fact that Suzuki manufactures several of the best-selling passenger vehicles and models, including the Swift, Baleno, and Jimny. The Suzuki Swift found 1 367 new homes in February, followed by the Suzuki Baleno (655 units) and Suzuki Jimny (129 units). The Suzuki Celerio of the new generation sold 127 units.
Baleno: According to Jaco Van Der Merwe, The Citizen’s Head of Motoring, when Suzuki Auto South Africa introduced the new Baleno last year, the Japanese carmaker hoped to sell around 300 cars per month locally.
These are modest figures by Suzuki’s recent lofty standards, but they are still ambitious, given that the first-generation Baleno barely threatened a three-digit monthly sales figure. Suzuki has sold an average of 402 Balenos per month in the seven months since the second-generation Baleno was introduced, with January sales reaching a record 652.
“After having the Baleno as a house guest for seven months, The Citizen Motoring can see why South Africans have warmed up to the hatchback,” Van Der Merwe stated. It handled every task we assigned it with such grace that we handed back its keys with a heavy heart. We will miss our little fuss-free runner.”
The Suzuki Baleno represents exceptional value for money. It does not pretend to be anything it is not and goes about its business quietly. In the current economic climate, it is difficult to overlook a product in that price range.
